Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Complete Accumulation Date

🖊 Write the “ACCUMULATION DATE” on the outside of the flexible drum using a permanent marker.
📅 This is the date when the first ballast was placed inside the drum.

Step 2: Prepare the Package

  1. Expand the Drum
    • Remove the inner liner and fully open the flexible drum.
    • Ensure the sides are straight and pressed out.
  2. Insert the Liner
    • Fold the top of the bag over the sides of the drum.
    • Press the liner into the drum and ensure the corners reach the bottom.

Step 3: Fill the Container

✅ Carefully place intact, non-leaking ballasts inside the drum.
Neatly stack to maximize space and maintain stability.
Do Not Place:

  • Leaking ballasts – These are not permitted in this container.
  • More than 250 lbs. – Excess weight will incur additional service fees.
    Always Keep Drum and Liner Closed When Not in Use.

Step 4: Seal the Container

  1. Secure the Inner Liner
    • Gather the liner as close to the top of the drum as possible.
    • Twist several times, fold in half, and secure with the provided wire tie.
  2. Seal the Drum
    • Gather the top of the drum together.
    • Use the attached tie to tie a single knot, wrap 180 degrees, and secure with a bow tie.

Step 5: Prepare for Shipment

  1. Place Drum on a Pallet
    • Use a standard 4-ft pallet.
    • Place up to four (4) drums per pallet – do not stack drums.
  2. Secure for Transport
    • Use shrink or stretch wrap to fully secure the drum(s) to the pallet.

Step 6: Request a Bill of Lading

  1. Schedule Pickup

    • Once your container is full and secured following these instructions, call 1-888-669-9725 to arrange a pickup and provide you with a Bill of Lading (BOL).
    • DO NOT arrange your own pickup!
  2. Attach the Bill of Lading

    • When you receive the BOL  secure it to the front of the palletized and secured drum(s).
  3. Allow Time for Pickup

    • Please allow 5-7 days for the pickup of your palletized and secured ballast drum(s).
